Aussie rockers Airbourne released their fifth studio album Boneshaker on 25 October 2019 via Spinefarm Records. Since forming in Warrnambool Victoria Australia in 2003, they have became a hard rockin staple worldwide. Although having a unique sound and vibe the influence of their heroes appear apparent in my opinion. I take a dive into Boneshaker below.
Opening up is the title track ‘Boneshaker’ which instantly delivers that signature sound, which in my opinion is heavily influenced by AC/DC and classic rock. Its fun and a throwback to some of Airbourne’s earlier work; think pulsing basslines hard hitting drums and classic sounding guitars. ‘This Is Our City’, grabs my attention with the lyric “Crazy, Obscene, Gonna Kick you in the spleen,” i feel has a great touch. Nice catchy main riff adding to the classic vibes. Other Stand out tracks to check out – ‘Weapon Of War’ and ‘Rock N Roll For Life’.
Boneshaker is a great album that has a real rock n roll growl but I cant help but hear a formula that is repeated almost constantly throughout, by no means the worst effort but to me its great beer drinking album that many will find a new anthem in.
