Cursed Earth, Perth Western Australia’s most brutal exports released The Deathbed Sessions EP on 31 May 2019 via UNFD Central. The Deathbed Sessions features guest appearances from Larissa Stupar (Venom Prison), Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan), Joel Birch (The Amity Affliction), Booka Nile & Sean Harmanis (Make Them Suffer), Nick Adams (Justice For The Damned), Mark Poida (Aversions Crown) and Jack McDonald (Cast Down). I take a drive into The Deathbed Sessions EP below.
‘Fear’ opens the EP with its instant impact of sludgy attack, had me head banging and following its groove upon impact. A beefy track that has its modern metal moments and breakdowns.
‘Rock Bottom’ blows me away! Bass and drums open the proceedings that lead the listener into more of a hard-core vibe, cleaner vocals that have a message. A relatable track that is versatile.
‘Deathbed’ takes me away with its female vocal that is accompanied by the bass and drums with guitar taking an atmospheric approach, providing a dark moody vibe. Obligatory riffs and mayhem during choruses but it’s the moody verse’s that sell this one to me. An interesting track in comparison and easily my favourite on the EP.
