PERRY FERRELL – KIND HEAVEN REVIEW 2019

RELEASE DATE: 31 MAY 2019
BY KENNY LENEHAN
Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell releases ‘Kind Heaven’ on 31 May 2019 via BMG. The album features musicians from Soundgarden, David Bowie and Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins. Its Vinyl release features a code to download the album that has been mixed with Dolby Atmos, giving the listener an immersive experience. I got to check out ‘Kind Heaven’ before its release on May 31st; check out my thoughts below.

‘(Red White And Blue) Cheerfulness’ opens the album with its weird and wonderful fashion, capturing Perry Farrell’s signature sound and character. A catchy hooky track that isn’t overly cheesy.

‘Pirate Punk Politician’ has a soundtrack vibe and in my mind perfect for a video game or movie. The electronic elements with accompanying synth parts and samples, think “The Matrix”.

‘Where Have You Been All My Life’ has a more ambient experimental sound again featuring samples and a strong psychedelic vibe that eventually progresses into a sound similar to Jane’s Addiction.

My personal favourites are ‘One’, ‘Pirate Punk Politician’ and ‘Snakes Have Many Hips’.

A solid album with versatility but an experimental chill out album in my mind. I wouldn’t mind picking up a copy on vinyl myself!
